Managing directors, Mark and
Karen Oliver are regularly in
the field testing Black Widow
products.
"We don't put a product on
the market unless we know it
works and works well".
A lot of our ideas come from
being out in the bush or on
the road. Necessity is the
mother of invention so they
say and more so convenience.
How many times have you said
to yourself, "Gee I wish I had
a so and so" or "if we had
something that would make that
easier".
Mark and Karen talk to
thousands of people a year
both on the road and at trade
shows. We take it all in and
listen to what people have to
say. There have been many
great ideas come from these
talks which have ended up a
finished product and on the
market.
I remember years ago when we
got our first 100 series. The
first thing we did was take it
for a run. We stopped for a
cuppa which we made on the
tail gate and spilled the
coffee on the carpet. The tail
gate replacement table was
born. Now we had a smooth
cleanable surface to prepare
our lunch. Karen didn't
appreciate it at the time as
the rest of the weekend was
taken up in the factory
designing and proto typing the
concept. The drawer lids, the
extension tables and etc all
came from the same situations.
The GU door bracket came into
being because when we had a
GU, we couldn't open the door
far enough to slide out our
fridge. The list goes on.
We have been road testing our
new Aluminium roof racks for
18 months now and we are
seeing them introduced to the
market now. 1,000's of Km's
over every anticipated surface
has seen them emerge as
cutting edge, from the new
range of accessories,
developed and re developed as
we used them to the unique
extrusions which make up the
rack. Again we have pioneered
interchange ability so the
rack will fit multiple
vehicles.
Black Widow's philosophy of
spending once as with our
drawer systems, sees the end
user being able to use the
same Black Widow products for
many years through many
vehicles.
Drawers are not a new concept
but we took it to another
level. With the Black Widow
created top shelves and
dividing barriers to custom
ADR rated cargo barriers that
are easy to fit without
drilling, we are always
pushing the boundaries to
what's possible. All this
comes from using the product.
It makes a difference.
See you on the road.
