Mark and Karen Oliver, Black Widow's Managing Directors owned and operated a very successful Restaurant business for a number of years. They both had a passion for the outback and adventure and loved to camp and fish and spend quality family time with their 2 sons.
In the mid 1990's, they designed and fabricated a storage system for the back of their 4WD to assist in managing the equipment they seemed to always need to carry around for those offroad adventures, and for their every day traveling and transport requirements.
They continued to further refine and develop the design after each use until they believed they had the best solution for their requirements. Thus, the first vehicle storage system was conceived.
The concept for a viable business and career change was confirmed as strong demand to supply storage solutions came from friends, family, colleagues and fellow travelers.
"Black Widow" was born in 1999. The idea of a spider and the association of web appealed to Mark, whilst Karen was tickled with the fact that the female Black Widow Spider killed its mate after she had had her way with him.
The business commenced operations in New Gisborne industrial estate. The rent was cheap and it was close to home. Since then, Black Widow Enterprises has relocated twice to larger premises to accommodate growth. Presently the business is owned and operated from premises located at 68 Barry Road, New Gisborne.
Black Widow Enterprises P/L manufacture aftermarket vehicle specific storage solutions and accessories to suit 4WD, Recreational Vehicle's and light Commercial Vehicles.
In the 4WD and recreational vehicles market, product is distributed within Australia and Europe through over 120 quality retail outlets comprising ARB, TJM and highly regarded independent stores.
In the Commercial vehicle market, product is distributed directly by Black Widow in conjunction with strategic business partnerships.
Black Widow manufacture a range of roll out sliding drawers in varying lengths and heights, which have been developed to present options with various combinations to accommodate different travel, touring and storage needs. Each storage solution is designed to be vehicle specific for recreational, 4WD and light commercial vehicles via unique wing and side contour kits.
Only quality products and components made from Stainless Steel, Aluminum, Zinc Coated and Galvanized metal are used in construction. Additional unique quality features include flush fitted keyed alike locks, dual bearings to all drawers and fridge runners and crossed pressed drawers for strength.
The Black Widow storage system is the only one of its kind to be a "Retro Fit" system with a lifetime warranty which means the consumer can take the drawers to a new updated vehicle and have a new vehicle specific wing and contour kit fitted (approx $200-$300) thus transferring their warranty and maximizing their purchase.
Strict quality control and assurance checks are carried out in all parts of the manufacture and assembly process.
All storage systems are tested and rated to Australian and New Zealand Design Standards.
A range of accessories and additional storage options have been specifically developed and designed as add on products to complement the Black Widow drawer system storage and achieve value adding per sale. They cannot be fitted on their own, or to any other product. These accessories comprise:
